There were no electronic tuners in the 70’s. There were these forks and those silly gazoo-style pitch pipes. Bang a fork off your knee, stick it in your mouth, bite down on it and your head will ring that sweet 440! I still use them today for that initial A tuning when I get new strings. These are quite a value and I have one in each guitar case that I own.

DO NOT BUY for tuning or musical purposes. The 3 tuning forks I received did not match each other in pitch, and NONE of them was 440 Hz. One sounded nearly an entire half step sharp. Very disappointing. This might be useful for a science demonstration, I guess. But NO ONE should tune their instrument using one of these.

Well, that was a waste of 10 dollars. I tested them with an electric tuner and all three are way off. They are not even in tune with each other. You can strike any two at the same time, press their bases into your desk or a soundboard, and clearly hear the out of tune beats. It does not appear as if they were ever calibrated.

They are cool but half step offIntresting….

These are great for teaching young children about sound and vibration

I had to return these, they were all very sharp—between 455-460 Hertz. Useless as a tuning method.

I bought these for a lesson on sound for my elementary students, however the handles broke off after only 2 days of classes. If there’s no handle, it doesn’t work, since it won’t vibrate without the handle.

These are not tuned accurately. Some were even almost a half step sharp. Even in the same package, there were different pitches. Don’t buy.
