When searching for recess activities with middle schoolers who thought it was fun to hit each other, I thought back to recess activities I enjoyed in 6th grade, and Cat’s Cradle was a favorite.I’m pleased to say that it also became a favorite with my students. I ended up ordering a second set because so many wanted to play. Watching “way too cool” 6th graders practice over and over again to master the different patterns was hilarious and a lot of fun. Many used yarn and embroidery thread to make their own string loops to practice and show off at home.My only negative is that the adhesive will pull apart if a student gets a little excited. I had one “break” the first day when I was separating the strings to pass out.

The join is smooth and they are very soft. They do not snag or stick when doing the maneuvers. Only downside, wish there was a blue or more variety of colors. But we knew that when ordering.

This is fun, we play with these all the time. They break easily though, but we just burned the ends back together again and they are fine. For the price paid, I did not worry about that and it was easy to mend back together anyways. We should have bought a Cat’s Cradle book with the fun and challenges we are having with these but YouTube came to the rescue. Lots of fun for kids and grownup to pass time with.
